I’m Beverly Payne, and I am using my 27 years of education experience to support students and other educators and to create innovative programs and personalize learning. I face each morning with a smile because I enjoy my work as an assistant superintendent in a small, rural school district in western North Carolina, one of the most beautiful and peaceful places on earth.
Writing is an activity to which I am drawn, and I relish the opportunity to write about education topics in a less formal way that I did when completing my doctoral degree (Go Huskers!). This blog is a creative outlet for me, but I hope that other educators, especially central office administrators, find value here, too. (Read my Welcome post).
Although I constantly work with others in my district through teams or partnerships, I have sometimes felt isolated from others in similar central office roles in other districts. But I think we can help each other.
I must confess. I have a slight addiction to reading. Okay, then, ‘avid’ doesn’t really begin to describe my reading habits. And further confession – most of what I read isn’t literary or educational! It is just FUN, FUN, FUN!
I enjoy gardening, hiking, golf, and tennis when I am not at school. I love puttering around the house, and between my greenhouse and my craft loft, I have my very own makerspace.
